After tooth extraction, many patients inquire about need and importance for tooth replacement, so I want to focus on this topic.
After removal of teeth, we prefer to wait for one month to three months for healing of gums and for bone formation in the affected area of the jaw, after proper healing we can go for tooth replacement.
Now the very first question arises, is replacement of teeth necessary?
Then the answer is YES.
Missing teeth place affects adjacent and opposite teeth movement in future. Teeth have a tendency to move but its movement is restricted by adjacent and opposite teeth. So, after extraction of any teeth, adjacent and opposite teeth get space and freedom to shift their positions, and this causes loosening and malalignment of teeth, which affects your facial esthetics and also chewing of food which may affect your overall health. That’s why replacement of teeth is necessary.
What are the options if one chooses to proceed with tooth replacement?
1. Dental Implant
2. Fixed Partial Denture (comes in ceramic and metal crowns)
3. Removable Partial Denture
